Durham Township Planning Commission

Attendees:             Don Ratushny, Ken Klein, Jim Pavlica, Pete Thomson, George Helwig and Cindy Skoriak

Quorum:               Yes

Secretary:             Joseph M. Kulick

Absent:

Township Zoning Officer Peter Bent and Township Engineer Scott Mease were also present.

Approval of Minutes from 04-03-2007 Meeting:

Jim Pavlica made a motion to accept the Minutes as presented; Ken Klein seconded the motion and all agreed (Cindy Skoriak abstained since she was not present at meeting). Minutes Approved as presented.

Old Business:

Continued Discussion on Amending Zoning & SALDO Ordinances:

Jim Pavlica questioned the Commission for any recommendations to speed-up the process of reviewing the zoning ordinance.  Zoning Officer Peter Bent commented that he will only review items that he felt needed review unless a commission member had a comment or question. 

Peter Bent proceeded to continue reading the Zoning Ordinance Definitions from “Manufactured Home” highlighting any items in question.  Joe Kulick will record all suggested changes in an official township zoning book.  The Commission stopped the review at the end of Article 2: “Definitions” and will pick-up the process at Article 3: “Establishment of Districts” on page 3-1 at the next meeting.  (See township zoning book for notes on official items discussed)

New Business:

Livestock Ordinance: Unscheduled general discussion on proposed ordinance, including definitions, etc.  Scott Mease presented a copy of Springfield Townships H-5 “Livestock in Residential Areas” ordinance. 

Planning Seminar:  The Chairman announced the availability for all commission members to attend a PSATS seminar on the “Duties of a Planning Commission” to be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 (night of June Planning Commission Meeting) at 6 PM to 9:30 PM in Bensalem, PA.  It was decided to cancel the June Planning Commission Meeting and attend the seminar in lieu of the meeting.  Members will advise Joe Kulick if they will attend.
